Social Media among teens

Today, Social media has rendered the global youth into oblivion. It is revealed that people now spend more time in Social Networking sites in a day than they do sleeping. This has created a lack of public awareness and moral code of conduct. It has also affected the youth, mentally and physically. People suffer more from depression, head-aches, body-aches and what not!

This was bound to happen as we saw the over-reliance of the human civilization on technology. We have forgotten the moral values and the art of conversation. There is a lack of new ideas and creativity. While we can also see the positive side of it, its risks can’t be overlooked. We see the increasing popularity of roasts and vines on YouTube among teens as a way of earning money.

Here I am stressing the importance of YouTube as a medium of gaining knowledge and skills rather than as a potential source of entertainment. Blogging, on the other hand, has enhanced the writing skills. It has given a platform to young minds to express their thoughts freely without any fear of judgement.

Another aspect is Cyberbullying which is a great issue nowadays. We see the increasing use of social media apps in anonymous chatting. This can virtually connect people from two utterly different backgrounds. While there are some pros to this, we cannot neglect its cons.

In this wired world of Social media, we have been torn apart from the real world. We have FB friends whom we don’t even know exist. This way we don’t know our commitment towards them and theirs to us.

With this video, I have tried to create awareness among the youth about this beautiful gift of science. We can use this for the benefit of mankind as a source of influence and power by creating videos and writing blogs about social awareness. This is the least possible step towards the betterment of our country. Besides this, it is our moral duty.

Given that social media is here to stay, we as youths have to work together to minimize the harms and maximize the benefits of this wonderful gift.
