How to simplify your life?


So, you wonder why you are always sad, anxious, depressed and above all worried about stuff that is going on with you in your life. You attend a lot of meetings, meet 30 people in the day, drink 50 coffees, attend 5 parties and change 10 pairs of clothing throughout the day. And then you wonder if you are close to a breaking point. In the modern era, the digital world has eased a lot of things for us but at the same time, decreased our focus on physical and mental health. As a result, we are constantly anxious about stuff that might not be in our control. So, we ourselves are to be blamed for our mental conditioning in this modern era. So, today I will list out a few things that will may or may not help you to overcome your problems but will at least help you to remain calm and relaxed regardless of the circumstances that you are facing.

  1. Sleeping: In the constant battle of achieving your goals and desires or a corporate position, we have forgotten doing the most efficient thing to relieve our stress and anxiety i.e. Sleep. We need to ensure that we sleep for at least 7 hours a day peacefully. It helps in preparing us for the grind that we shall be going through the following day. Besides, it will help in maintaining a calmer attitude.
  2. Fewer meetings; Fewer Commitments: It is said that “he who doesn’t have two-thirds of the day to himself is a slave – whether he be a statesman, a businessman or a scholar.” Fewer commitments to other people and having some free time to yourself will definitely ensure that we are in a good mental space at the end of the day and the following morning. We can also spend more time with our family and understand the importance of doing the most basic things in life such as smelling the flowers, walk naked feet on the grass or watching the stars from the balcony at night. It will, in other words, make us appreciate our lives even more.
  3. Don’t crave fame: It will be extraordinary to be the best in the world or be a celebrity or achieve fame but it will be an even bigger achievement if we live our lives like normal people do i.e. waking up in the morning, having breakfast, going to the office, returning home and having dinner with family, watching TV with kids and going off to bed. It will make us value our time even more.
  4. Avoid Overthinking: Most of the people overthink and cause themselves mental harm. It is imperative to think less and act more. Besides it is also important that whenever we feel anxious about something, we should communicate to our loved ones the things that are causing us pain. We should perhaps not worry about the future and instead concentrate on making our present even more happy and cheerful by indulging in fruitful and light-hearted conversations with our loved ones.


In a nutshell, we may assume that excitement can be euphoric and perhaps fun for a time but at the same time, it is short-lived. So, as boring as it may sound, in order to be remain calm and relaxed amidst the storm, we need to become simple. Simplicity is true wisdom.
