Impact

I was about to go to sleep as my phone rang. Normally, I am not an afternoon person but here I was tired of all the things that were going around me. I was surrounded by negativity and darkness. I didn’t have any motivation to lift myself. So, I decided to sleep on a Sunday afternoon. I usually keep my phone on silent mode but this time I forgot. It was my friend calling me after a long time. She started with her usual stuff. Being in a clumsy mood, I was yet to come to terms about what was going on. But just listening to her voice made me feel good for a change. I involved myself in the conversation gradually. She said I was depressed at first but now she felt a change. As she was about to hang up, I said that she had made all the difference.

After all this, I realized the impact a person’s voice can make on you. Just their voice can lift your sagging spirits. On any other day, I wouldn’t have even bothered to think about any of this but on that day, I needed just something like this. After the conversation, I realized I can do anything and everything in my life. There was certainly an adrenaline rush through my body. I had the positive vibes around me. I could feel that I was gently smiling and wondering about the genuine conversation I just had. She had motivated me without even realizing. So, what changed? How come someone’s voice IMPACT me so drastically?

I believe that there are some people in your life that come with an expiry date i.e. they are there in your life just for a short period. After that, they just go about their own way realizing that you don’t need them anymore and even you realize that you are better off without them though you would have ideally liked them to stay. You still talk with them and occasionally meet but not as frequently. But every time the impact they leave on you is something to be cherished. All the relations and friendships don’t last a lifetime but however short they are, they can make a similar kind of impact as the relationships that last a lifetime if not more. You just got to realize the importance of every person in your life and discard the ones permanently whom you consider insignificant. Life is too short to waste time on worthless people.

In one of my previous posts (regarding a CHANCE encounter), I mentioned that it’s not the length of time that matters, it’s the amount of energy that people bring along with themselves in your life. This has proved true in my case. I just hope that I can make a similar kind of IMPACT in someone else’s life albeit even for a short period.
