Loss and Hope

“I forgot what it feels like to be loved by a man. Oh god! I miss your dad so much” and she broke down in front of her daughter. She knew it was a long time ago that her husband had a cardiac arrest and passed away. But his loss was always going to be felt. After all, they were soulmates.

Death is a harsh fact of life. It can’t be overlooked or neglected. The loss of a loved one is the biggest woe of human life. It feels as if the whole world is collapsing in front of you. You can’t believe what is happening. You want someone to wake you up from this terrible nightmare. Even after months and years, you sometimes feel surreal about the event. You just can’t believe they are no more here for you.

My friend once told me “Nobody is permanent. People replace themselves in your life. Today is someone, tomorrow there will be someone else. Someone will take place of someone else in your life.” This statement gives us hope that even if nobody is replaceable, there are people who will make you overcome your loss and grief. You just have to give them a chance.

It is you who has got to move on. There’s nowhere else to go. You have got to tell yourself “Look, what has happened has happened. I can’t change it. But my future is in my hand and if I make an effort, things can be better definitely” and trust me things are going to get better.

Human life is not always a bed of roses. It has its ups and downs; crests and troughs. I imagine how this world would look like if people understood each other’s problems. There would be no grief or sorrow left in the world. “The world is full of good people. If you can’t find one, be one!”

Even in the darkest of times, one thing that keeps us going is hope. Time has the power to heal even the deepest scars of the human mind and body. In these tough times, don’t think too far ahead of yourself. Live in the present and just go with the flow. Take life naturally as it comes to you. In these times, you’ll also get to know who really cares about you. Only a handful of people are going to stay back and empathize with you. No matter what life goes on. Better times are about to follow. Just cling on to the HOPE.
